1974 Merc 110 9.8 hp. I have been having spark problems recently. Until about 2 weeks ago, it ran very, very well, and now intermittently just won't start. Other times it starts easily. I've determined that sometimes it just isn't getting spark. I've elimintate kill switch.
I have pulled the starter cord a few times with both plugs disconnected - to check compression, for instance, and recently to check spark strength. Does this ruin ignition parts?
I can't directly relate this to my recent problems because I don't think I've done this (pulled the starter cord w/ plugs removed/disconnected) this year, and the problem cropped up very recently.
Thanks.
