Did you know that you CAN put an evinrude fuel line on a portable tank the wrong way? The engine ran fine until it ran out of fuel in the line. Fortunatly I was getting the trailer hooked up and had not left the dock when it stopped.

I was pulling the boat in advance of EARL and could not get the trailer up the bank at the house. So a quick, unplanned boat ride to the ramp less than 1 mile away by water, 13 miles by jeep. (quick for me in the boat, not-so-quick for my wife and jeep:D)

It is far enough of a drive that the boat can go to the ramp, wait a few minutes, go back home, get the tie down straps, and be back before the vehicle gets there. I'm just sayin, not admitting to anything.

I HATE unplanned things. A laminated checklist will be made.

At least it looks ok for Earl here.

You obviously have not been reading the archives over in the JohnnyRude repair section (hint) ;)

Oh, and good luck with Earl........

No....the fuel line cannot be put on the wrong way.
You can put the fuel line on so that the primer bulb is on the wrong way, however....;)

Well, I have special powers. I put htat thing on and gave it the cutomary tug and it was on. On wrong, but on.

I have a Mercury engine but use an old Johnson portable tank, that's why I didn't see the other posts. It's nice to know I am not unique in my mistakes:redface:

Been there, done that. Almost ruined a weekend because I couldn't get my 30 horse Evinrude to run. Was on the verge of pulling the boat out of the water and going home when I realized what I had done. I felt dumb, but glad I salvaged the weekend.

the fittings are the same so it's not hard to do. I've been told that you can do permanent damage to the little check valves by reversing them.

Brent are you on the sea side? If so how high were the tides/winds? we're at Folly Creek.
