So im at the launch today with the wife and 3 kids. There's this guy there and he pulls in and straight into the area to untie and uncover his boat. Everyone stays in the truck but the guy, he gets out and unstraps his boat and puts the outboard all the way down and starts to back to the ramp. then all the sudden the trailer tire drops into a small hole and BAM!!!! the prop is in the concrete and one blade is broken. he gets out to inspect the damage, and this other guy says "your motor hit the ground". guy one does not even look at him just straps back up and leaves.

If your guessing im guy 2 (with the stupid comment) WRONG!!
Im the dumb-***.

Just thought everyone could use a laugh.:D

will try again next weekend as i dont have a spare prop.

That s*cks but now you know it's important to carry a spare prop. Not just for ramp mishaps, break one in the middle of the lake, thats a problem.

Re: Didn't even make it in the water

To add a little more injury to the day, on the way home the LF brake on my pick-up locked up and had to have a friend that i use to race with bring a trailer for my truck and a extra one to tow my boat home.

just wasnt my day i guess.

at least everything and everyone is home safe (besides the prop), so have a silver lining i guess.

You said the key thing, everyone is safe. All of us make mistakes but the real idiots are the ones who don't learn from their mistakes. Well, here's hoping your next outing goes as slick as a catfish's belly.

You should take the cover off at home and have everything ready to go, rather than take up space at the ramp doing that...just fyi

that sucks for sure. It's also good practice as you can see to put the outdrive down when the boat is in the water.

And to top it off, bifflefan, your driver ran out of gas...one turn from the checker flag!

There's no justice in this world...for boaters, or racers!

Re: Didn't even make it in the water

So the guy at our ramp dings one blade. Continues to launch and when asked " are you sure you want to run it like that??" says.....heck yeah, I only have a little ways to go to the flats..
That poor 90 Yamaha was shaking the whole time he was idling out....
At least you had the sense not to try and do that...;)

No, that's what prep lanes are for. It sounds like he used the prep lanes instead of doing it on the ramp.

Now you know what happens when someone power loads their boat.
