dies when take off easy

have 1990 200gt. it starts good. it runs wide open good. when try to take off easy it dies. take off half to full gas it runs good. after take off can back it down and it runs good. till cut it of again. then same thing. wont take off easy or idle troll. soon as but in gear it dies after a sec,

I had the same problem.....on mine i got a compression check of the cylinders and one was 60% lower than the others.

my compression in all 6 cyl,s is 70 it is a low compression motor was told it was in range it had a cdi box put on was wondering if was timing

My old boat did this and we cleaned the carbs and thought that might help, but it turned out the fuel pump had disintegrated and put rubber chunks in the jets. It ran fine at WOT but wouln't idle very long before stalling. Don't know if this helps, but a carb rebuild and new fuel pump fixed my problem. Good luck!

clean the carbs and rebuild kits, change all fuel lines tank to carb to alcohol resistant lines, then do a linc n sinc. get the OEM Johnson Manual. outboardbooks.com

Sounds like carbs.
Run some seafoam through it, mine came up from 60-70 to 85+psi, I have a low compression commercial 150. Shoot some in the cylinder and let the rings soak a while.

it has a 30 gal gas tank and when i pump the ball when release the ball i hear air go back in the tank is this ok or do i have a prob the ball never gets hard all the way ive checked that check vavle ball in the tank it not stuck i havent tried the vent to if it stoped of but when i fill it up i see fumes comming out it for sure it clear

point the arrow on the bulb to the sky and see if it gets hard. if you see fumes, it is clear.

i went and did that and yes when i pointed it up it pumped up hard is that good or bad
