Diesel Conversion prop question

I have a 1969 V-Hull Whitcraft 36'. I am starting new with the engine conversion, going from twin 6 cyl Chryslers to one center mounted 571 GM Diesel with an Allison Transmission.

In order to ask advice for what prop I should use what information would you all need from me about my boat?

I read the permanent post about what info to provide but mine involves an engine switch, didn't know if that made a difference.

Re: Diesel Conversion prop question

This is a very heavy question. What you had has no relevance to where you are headed. With the bucks you paid for the boat and the engine conversion, I doubt that you are stuck with the "el cheapo" solution. So.......

I would personally start out on www looking for a similar boat (probably a for sale unit with all the specs) to yours with similar power to see what is offered in props as installed equipment. Then you might select a dealer in props of your requirements and pick his mind.

Then see if you can work up a deal whereby you can try several....probably won't take more than 3 to get it right (close enough) with his ability to change out the prop without you having to go back on the dry dock for some mutually agreeable fee.

What do you think?
