Hi all,
I have noticed that my current 1989 0432511 throttle plates have quite excessive play on the shaft this combined with a ton of movement in my linkage rod is given me a headache when trying to get the sync right. My question is, would using a set from a 1992 120hp 0434384 be ok. From what i can see they are pretty much the same except the drillings in the throat. Is this difference just due to improving on the intial design or is it due to the different carby's used on the 1992? I am using a second hand 1992 120hp power head which I have fitted with my original 140 intake manifold throttle bodies and carby's.

Thanks Fazt I suspected as much. Would it be better for me to swap out to the newer carbs than to try find better condition throttle bodies? Further to that I noticed that the 1994 version introduces a different throttle body with carbs with idle adjustment screws would they work if i could get them ?

the new style intake manifold first appears in 1995 with the 130hp, along with the more simplified carbs without the idle air orifice, different pistons and rods, and different block. all i can tell you is it made a big difference in smoothness, especially at idle, and quite a bit more power. if you can, i'd try to find a 1995 and up complete powerhead. probably no more $ than trying to buy the intake manifold and carbs. and even if you did that, it still wouldn't be as smooth as a 130 in all probability.

Only difference in rods is bolt size(3/8vs 5/16) possible piston size(.100) and would account for block difference.
