You do "mostly" fishing and "mostly" on small lakes. Well, it sounds to me like you need a fish 'n' ski more than a runabout. That bassboat would be great except for the low engine compression. Bummer.

As for "Greg" in that home video... the guy was an idiot and that's what happens when you drive like an idiot. Doesn't matter if it's a bassboat, a runabout, a car or a truck. Drive like an idiot and eventually it'll catch up to you.

Get what you'll be happy using "most" of the time and then drive safely! :)

Re: difference between Bass boat and Run-A-Bout

I live in minnesota, and go on mostly smaller lakes, however i would love to get up on Mille Lacs Lake.

I live in Minnesota as well and see the boats on Mille Lacs when I drive by up to the cabin. Mille Lacs is an unforgiving (large) lake and I rarely ever see a Bass or Species boat. I also then am on smaller inland lakes and could not imagine using a bass boat for water sports much less have kids on it for a day of fun. To me the deep freeboard of a v hull is the key with kids but admittedly is terrible for fishing. I can't reach the lake from the side of my boat due to the freeboard which makes fishing difficult especially for the kids. A fish and ski runabout/open bow will have that same depth issue but when I see them for sale, they are less expensive than the same non F&S bowrider. If I were in your shoes I would pick up a nice aluminum bowrider fishing boat made for both fishing and some fun too. Those on the other hand unbeknownst to me are more expensive than a glass bowrider. Maybe because they have large outboards.

Thanks guys. I am going to choose the Regal. I took it out for a run today and like what I see. I will feel much safer in the bigger boat then the Ebbtide. Everyones input was invaluable and I bless you all for shareing your knoladge with me!

Thank you all

Good choice. My guess is you'll end up doing more tubing and beaching then fish now that you have that fun ride. Congrats!
