Hi, I have a 68 evinrude 55hp outboard that does not run and I am looking to swap it with a 50 hp mid early 80's 50 hp mercury. My question is what all will I need to do to make this swap happen. I have read around and not gotten much from it. I know I will for sure need to get new throttle controls but I am wondering if I will be able to keep the same steering wheel and steering linkage or if I will need to swap that out as well and for the information my boat is a left hand drive. Please let me know as I will be getting this Mercury next weekend. Thank you for all the help you have given me in my boat restoration.

Normally the steering is universal, you might need to adapt the cable end to your engine though.
