Hey guys im curious whats the difference in my 1998 force 90 horse power 2 stroke and a 1998 mercury 90 hp 2 stroke?
the nada for the force model one is 500 for average retail and the the mercury model is 1500 average retail. they seem to have the same powerhead and parts right?

No, The Force was just upgraded with mercury's soft parts (wiring etc.)...the Force (nothing to do with Star Wars) is still the same "Chrysler" it was before Merc got in on it.

that's not true. from a durability standpoint most of mercury's "upgrades" were actually cost-cutting downgrades. The mercury-force product is significantly less reliable than the chrysler and significantly more likely to suffer a catastrophic failure to powerhead or stator. While Chrysler/Force (and USMarine) was an outstanding engine, Mercury Force is a tempermental budget engine that likes to blow powerheads.
