I know there is a difference between marine and standard starters and should not be substituted. What are the differences? I know obviously the alternators have the spark arrestors in them but i don'tsee any in the starter.

I have a cracked nose cone on my marine starter where the long mounting bolt goes. I was wanting to swap out the nose cones. I'm sure it's not a problem i guess i just ed wanted to check before i proceed.

The marine version wont emit a spark lighting fuel vapor. Alternator I would not worry so much about getting the marine version starter I would. Gas vapor sinks and the starter is down low....

So i guess they're sealed up on the case and solenoid... They look identical, so it must be sealed internally somehow. I'm just worried if I tear it down to replace the nose cone i might compromise the seal.
