been reading alot of posts about winterising, and the do's and dont's, would running the engine every couple of days take away the need to coat all the internals with fogging oil etc, obviously the freezing issue would still be there,

any thoughts?????

i'm ready to be shot to pieces now hahaha
Simon

Sounds like a lot of extra work to me. Especially if you have to hook up water to it to run (otherwise you destroy the impeller) then you have to redrain the cooling system etc.
You would also need to let the engine warm up completely to burn off the excess fuel from cold starting while choked.
Then there is the wear and tear on the starter and the battery that never gets fully recharged after a short run.
Just seems easier to fog the engine.

Engineers agree The worst thing for an engine is "house starting". (running engine for short periods of time as "maintenance"). The most engine wear takes place on start up. Fog and forget.

I Agree......
Shutting it down,+ draining the water,+ Forgeting about it.......
Would do Less Damage, than what you propose.....

s1jor,to answer your question YES.The internals would be fine in that case.As you can see from the other answers you have recieved ,it is not the way to go.Charlie
