Different Types of Piston Rings on Same Model Year Motor?

I am replacing the #6 piston on my '86 Mercury 150 XR2 motor and I conveniently found someone parting out the exact same motor and bought the #6 piston from them which was in absolute immaculate condition. The piston rings on that piston are different than the rings on my motor. All the rings on my motor have the notch at each end. The rings on the piston I bought do not have the notches, but they are slightly tapered at each end. Is this just a different style and they will work fine? Or do I need to order different rings? Any help is appreciated. The piston fit up really nice in the cylinder...

Anyone?

Would love to know if these rings are fine before I waste 30 bucks on new rings...

Sounds like a Wiseco and factory rings will not fit it...

So Wiseco pistons came with a different type of ring and it should be fine?

You have to use Wiseco rings with Wiseco pistons, they are one of the few that will not take a OEM ring. Post pic of piston and also a Wiseco ring will have a gold tint on the ring land
