Digital depth sounder help

here is the digital depth sounder in my ski boat. No idea of the brand. Trying to adjust it for proper depth, right now it overstates depth by about 2.5 feet. Anybody? Thanks for your response.

I believe the logo on the top of the gauge is TeleFlex, if that helps.

Where is the transducer? Might be time for a new unit or transducer at least.

Look on the back of the gauge for the manufacturer and model number. Often manuals can be found online.

What is you reference for being off by 2.5 feet? The unit may have an offset feature for protecting the lowest part of the boat, the Yamaha skeg or Malibu rudder

How have you determined it is not reading correctly?

The only depth locator I even had to adjust was a Heathkit I built decades ago now. And their procedure was to go out in the water, take a rope and lower it to the bottom with some weight on it and then mark the depth at the point of the bottom of the transducer. And then see what the locator was reading and adjusted a speed pot to increase the reading or decrease the reading according to the measured length of the rope. BUT, that was a flasher type locator and what I was adjusting was the actual speed of the motor spinning inside so that ti was synced with the reading from the length of the rope.

With a digital readout model, I am not so sure you have the ability to adjust anything. But then I haven't see the back side of your locator either. :noidea:

Water at the end of my dock is 5 feet deep, sounder reads 7.5, looking to adjust the keel offset. I agree, it looks like a Teleflex logo. Can't find a manual with a google search. 2000 Ski Centurion.

2000 Ski Centurion. Agree it is a Teleflex logo, thanks. Couldn't google up a manual though. So I pulled up a Faria manual for a similar instrument and determined that KO is keel offset, and with that I was able to adjust it so when sitting at my dock in 5 feet of water (measured with a stick and tape, it reads 5.2 feet. All is now good in the depth sounder kingdom.

Like GA Boater mentioned, it was probably set up for an offset for the lower unit/outboard that sticks below the keel. You should be be able to atleast setup a depth alarm to give you an audible alarm before break something.

What is the low or shallow water alarm set for. If the lowest part of the boat is say 2.5, and you think the water is 5 feet, any wave or rough water that makes the boat rock up and down could slam the bottom. Something to think about.
