i have a 1973 350 mercruiser straight inboard motor that came out of a 28 ft. boat.

My question is this:
I have a boat that needs a motor and outdrive.

What do i need to do to the engine to make it work with the outdrive?

Im pretty sure i need to move the starter to the standard location on GM engines, right now it is sticking out of the motor right over the transmission, could cause clearance problems with the I/O setup.

The engine has (i think)a borg warner velvet drive attached to it right now.

Please let me know. I will post pics of the motor as soon as possible.

Depends on what outdrive you have!

Im probably going to get an Alpha One outdrive, since theyre the cheapest and most easily available.
