Just kidding there Mopar. We are getting some cold and a little snow here as well. It has been in the twenties the last couple days and high winds last night with a light snow starting tonight. I know that is probably like spring time up by you but it is about as cold as it ever gets around here. And me doing a bathroom /laundry room remodel at work. I'll be outside a good part of the day cutting moldings and some doors to fit. Thinking of measuring and running home so I can cut in my garage. I'm such a wimp.

It shouldn't stay this bitterly cold for too long. We're supposed to be back in the teens by Sunday, and the 30's for most of next week. I'm feeling well enough now so I plan on getting back out there to the tent and making a little more progress on the Laker soon. If the forecast holds, I'll most likely get back to working on it Monday.

Just found another forecast that is saying with the wind, the "feels like" temp is going to be -46 tomorrow night. I live a bit west of Butte, MT. http://www.ktvh.com/2016/12/still-sn...cold-moving-in

gmp440, you are an amazing individual. I know for absolute certain that I wouldn't be able to work on a boat in such conditions. Bravo sir bravo. :thumb:

It seems we are getting the tail end of your weather system and Temps are supposed to rise as the day goes on Saturday. We aren't at your elevation so we rarely get below the teens but it seems upstate new york is in about the same shape as you with the temp being 0 right now not figuring the windchill. God bless as GM has said.
Glad to hear you are feeling better, just in time to do some plowing right? :frusty::smow:

Its going to be 8 here on Saturday night.....I'm heading out to the shop, but I have that nice 80K btu heater to warm up to. Otherwise I would be in the house, I'm a chicken! I hate cold, I don't know how you do it Gomopar! Its going to be 69 today, go figure, 60 degree temp swing in 24 hours! Guess I will enjoy today! Glad you are feeling better and looking forward to seeing you get back at it! Hope it warms up for you!

They are actually talking about low to mid 70's for Saturday and Sunday here in middle Georgia. Of course today we are only going to get to mid 50's. A huge temp swing. But I'll take it.

I guess I draw the line on working out in the tent once it gets too far below 20*F. I could probably handle it if I needed to, but I'd be worried about the glue not being in the correct temp range for it to dry and cure properly. Those two table top halogen lamps I got would help, but I'd need a few more to cover the entire sponson when gluing on the long pieces of wood. I don't trust the kero heaters enough yet to let them run unattended out in the tent. After I've been able to use them a while and see if they have any issues I'll reconsider that option.

We had about 8" of new snow as of yesterday at sundown. When I woke up this morning and looked outside we now have 4" more, for a total snow accumulation of about 12".:smow: Just two days ago all we had was a little dusting left over on the ground here and there.

Annnnd our four wheeler with the plow on it is still broke (won't start). That's going to have to take priority on the project list until I can either get it fixed, or order whatever part needs replacing. It's looking like it may be the main battery relay, but I'll have to find the trouble shooting checks for it before I can be sure. Fun stuff. Not.

Ohhh, lookie what I just spotted on CL! http://kalispell.craigslist.org/boa/5909483756.html From the rubrail down this 1989 Thompson Santa Cruz 31' hull has similar features as both the Mk I and Mk II PBR's from what I can see in the one pic in the CL ad. There's not much in the way of details on the CL ad. The upper half is a bit different and would require a complete rebuild to get it looking like a real PBR. The inset lower transom, notched and set back from the upper transom, looks close enough to use as is. The shape of the chine looks more like the style used on the earlier MK I version though. It has prop drives instead of jet drives, but that would make it a lot easier to maintain as far as being able to find parts for it. I saved the Santa Cruz pic on PhotoBucket so it wouldn't disappear when the CL ad goes away. The two PBR line drawings come from this website and I saved those on PB as well: http://riversectiondivision531.org/pbrfeatures.html

MK II PBR:

Hmm, I wonder if Santa will be able to find a way to fit that thing down my chimney? Might be a bit difficult since he'd need to drop it off with a truck big enough to haul it as well.:D Of course if I'm on Santa's "Naughty List", I guess it'll be a moot point. Coal don't float.

The really sad part is when you are thinking about the next boat project or two well before you get the first one finished.

And now, a future conversation by Gomopar and DNR officer......

"Is that a 50 cal. you got on your boat son?"
"Why no officer, its actually 2 50 cals"
"Hmmm, and what do you need those for?"
"They're my custom rod holders...ain't they cool!!"

Well, I'm a gunsmith, so I'd be hard pressed to accept using fake guns up there.:laser::p

The Rambler is sitting in the back of the pasture waiting for it's turn to get restored next, so I guess I'm already stacking them up.

Merry Christmas to all you iBoaters out there! Hope everyone made it onto the "Nice" list this year. If not, then at least share the story with us of how you made it onto the "Naughty" list.:D

Been taking it easy over the last week and haven't been able to get anything done on the boat unfortunately. Had a few more honey-do projects than I had anticipated and I'm still waiting on the part to fix the atv with the plow on it. The snow drifts in the driveway are 2' deep in places now and are starting to solidify.

Merry Christmas GMP440. Don't push doing things until you fell well enough to do so. I guarantee those snow drifts will be there when you are ready to plow them, many even more. I do remember snow drifts in my days.

Gomopar, I just found and caught up on your thread. Permission to come aboard? Hard to find many build it from scratch blogs/threads with the great documentation you're providing. Keep up the great work! Cheers!
