So i head 1/2 hour drive to the closest lake head down to the boat lauch to put in and there are 7-8 divers in the water right on the boat ramp??&^^*$*^%^ We only have one ramp for boats and a sandy area for people with pwc s and canoes and what not 3 or 4 are right on the dock with a dive flag about 10 feet off the end of the dock and another flag about 50 yards offshore, lucky mt boat is easy too launch and retreive so instead of making a scene{i was outnumbered anyway}i launched from the sandy part,i mean come on!@!!!!Sorry had to rant about that one,and no there were no DNR or any one in authority anywhere about lots of cutbacks here in michigan! And to top it all off i only caught 2 fish in about 2 hours fishing!!!TOM

Cell phone? Probably many goodies there to dive for.

Yet the divers will really have a go at you if you attempt to launch there eh !!!!

The ramps I normally use have "no swimming" posted. To a reasonable person, that would equate to no diving as well.

Unfortunately there are many people that are not "reasonable" and claim innocence on a technicality !!

Well I am a certified diver and I can tell you that I (we) would never in a million years even think about diving around a boat ramp, I would have ask them to go somewhere else and would explain what a boat prop might do to them.

My favorite saying is" you can't reason with an unreasonable person" so when your outnumbered you might have made the right call. Surely though it seems like most divers have their wits about them so possibly they would have considered getting out of the way. Just my 2 cents.

Diving at the dock seems like a recipe for disaster with a bunch of divers in the water,,, would be like running the gauntlet trying to launch and retrieve your boat. Where I'm at, boats are required to stay away from divers/diving buoys 100 feet.

I rarely see divers but saw one a few weeks ago, right in the middle of the river's channel, hundred yards or so outside the no-wake zone. I couldn't believe his choice of place/time to dive as it was right after gray light (5am). He could have been easily run over by someone not paying attention. I could barely see his diving buoy with all the chop on the water and low light conditions...

Could they have been working on the boat ramp or moving rocks away from the boat launch area??

It couldn't hurt to ask what they were up to.

there would have been city/county or some type of police vehicles there if that were the case.
