i have a newly rebuilt 350 chevy engine in a 1978 sea ray 240 cc.oil comes out of the dipstick when i go to about 3500 rpm.not much oil, just enough to get my goat.1pint or less.oil pressure is about 60# at idle.75#when when at 3500 rpm then when full heated it settles to about 50#.i have a breather on the starboard side valve cover and a pcv valve on the other.is the pcv causing all of my woes?

thanks,eddie

Re: dipstick pops out

WTH-pull out the PCV and shake it-it should rattle...if not-clean it with carb cleaner/parts cleaner...if it does rattle,ya' have other problems...Merc used quite a variety of dipstick tubes and maybe ya' got the wrong one with your rebuild

Good advice from "zzzzz".

The only other possibility is excess "blowby" It can happen, even on a newly rebuilt.

If you put perfect circle chrome rings in it that could be part of your problem. ck pcv valve and all vacuum lines for stoppage if all is clear just allow for break in and rings if they are chrome type they will seal against cylinder walls. used to have same problem back in old dragester days
let us know what you find
