Dirty boat - concerned?

Hey all, finally took possession of "Chaos" two weeks ago. have not had it out much but so far so good. Handled well in some heavy chop on Simcoe and looking forward to getting it out on lake Ontario next weekend (too cold this weekend).
anyway,

When I looked at the boat it was dirty, the seats had dirt on them From sitting outside and in the factory). The salesman assured me that when they detail the boat it would look like new / showroom condition.
well it doesn't

I did get a good deal on the boat but i did not buy a used boat. I did return the boat after the frist weekend out for small things (missing screws and minor adjustments) and complained at that time about the dirt in the seams and the discoloation of the threads. The point was that they did a bad detailing job and the salesman said it would be done immaculately. When I picked it up the following weekend it was better until I got it out into the water and sunlight and sure enough there is still a bit of dirt in the roll of the seam and the thread is darker in some areas than others. Am i just being anal or what? The vinyl? has a bit of texture to it and there is also a bit of stain in that as well. When I stand back and look at the boat I see a bit of a yellow tinge to the seats.
to be honest no one else has noticed, just me.

Can anyone suggest a good cleaner to bring my seats back to brand new looking again?

We have this orange oil cleaner at work that is pretty amazing, as for the thread though, don't think you will ever get that out completely.

I can see your point, it is a new boat and should look that way, if the dealer has gone over it twice that may be as good as it gets.

If you are the only one that noticed it is probly more you than the boat, give it a week and you probly won't care as much once you start using it.

You never said what kind of boat it was.

You said you got a good deal on it,,,,could be why you got the good deal afterall. I would try some different cleaners, but only in areas that are not easily seen. This is just in case one of them reacts in a bad way. Good Luck,,,,,,I just throw a towell over mine to hide the stuff

Should it have been nice and clean when you picked it up? - Yes. But it wasn't. The best thing to do is just clean it up yourself. Use a brush and you'll get the seams clean. Make sure that once it's clean, you use a good protectant (like 303). Otherwise, you'll basically prime it for more dirt/staining...

I use spray 9 and a stiff nylon bristle brush with hot water. My vinyl seats sat dirty for years until I got the boat. They look new again.

I don't know, if the salesman told you it would be showroom quality after their detail, then that's what I would expect. You say you're the only one who notices, well... Who's paying the bill? I'd be a little put off too.

Try Simply Green. i used it on the lounge seats in our old boat that sat uncover for 2 years.. got all the dirt and crap right out.. i used one of those green dish sponges with the rough side.
