Dirty Fuel Filter?

I was running my 1988 70 HP Merc. this weekend and the motor started acting like it was running out of fuel. I switched tanks but still would not run over about 2500 rpm and ran rough. I backed off the throttle and the engine smoothed. If I pushed the choke momentarily, the engine would then speed up a bit. It acts like a clogged fuel filter. Is there a fuel filter on this motor? Is this what I should be looking for? <br />Thanks
