If the stator head and flywheel magnetic field is dirty will it affect my voltage. I was OK before my flywheel came off (nut on top came off and was spun on stator) after purchased motor from dealer. Something is causing it to not produce enough to recharge my batteries.

Whats is dirty??? The only way to "dirty" a magnetic field is with another field....

If the flywheel nut came off and the flywheel spun/key shear, you could have lamination shorts on the stator. Assuming the key replaced etc?

It is a 97 Johnson 90 outboard. I think the key spun out cause I found it yesterday on floor. Mechanic just replaced nut w/locknut instead of a regular nut.

Model number?

The flywheel locks to the crank taper when the nut is properly torqued - the key is mostly there to align the flywheel during assembly. I wouldn't expect the nut to loosen by itself, so it's mystifying why a mechanic would replace with a locking type.

Just guessing, maybe he beat the snot out of the nut with a hammer when removing the flywheel. Guessing some more, maybe he beat the snot out of the crankshaft threads also. More guessing, now it is impossible to get an accurate torque on the nut. Just guessing, but seen a lot of things.
