DISABLEING IGNITION SYSTEM

DOING A COMPRESSION TEST AND NEED TO KNOW IF I CAN DISABLE IGNITION AS FOLLOWS using a 12 gage wire(heavy enough?) <br />as you can see on web page <br /><br /> i'm using the male end of a spark tester (best fit) then hooking the ground to the male end and the other end to a bolt on the engine. does this look like a good idea or is there some other way that would be better?<br />thanks <br />MAR T

What motor. Normally you can leave the key in the off position and jump the starter through the solenoid to spin the motor. Look at thsi thread, http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=28;t=032070#000003 and be sure to look at the web page link in the 3rd. post
