I recently purchased a '99 Optimax 200HP. I've been running premix since the oil pump gear on my previous outboard went so I've got about 40 gallons of premix left in my tank. My question is. Once I have the newer engine installed what do I need to do to disable the injection system and alarms on this engine. Once I get the tank to about 1/4, I want to enable the injection system and alarms again. Any help or advice is appreciated.

You can't do this on a optimax engine because the fuel is inected on top of piston and only air and oil is injected into crankcase.

pump it out and put it your car or truck, 50:1 won't hurt anything. It may also run fine in the opti but I haven't tried that before.

Thanks for the responses guys. Is there are safe way to pump this out? Should I remove the anti siphon valve and then try to remove the fuel or do I remove the fuel sending unit? Also, do I need to remove all of the fuel I have left or can I dilute some of what I have with fresh gas? Any advice is appreciated.

Depending on the type of boat you have, you can do either. I usually remove the fuel sender, and stick a "shake-shake" siphon into the bottom of the tank. I insert a 1/2" piece of copper pipe into the end of the siphon hose and stick it thru the garboard drain. Then a jerry can under the copper pipe and a couple of shakes to start the siphon, and keep filling the jerry cans.

bTW - If you can dilute the premix to 100::1, I would doubt you will have any issues burning it.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the input. I've got a Grady White Seafarer with a 92 Gallon tank, a little less than half a tank. So, if I can get around 25-30 gallons out and then add 30-35 gallons of fresh gas in I should be good. Again, thank you for your input.
