Good morning everyone. As the title states I’m wanting to bypass/remove the auto oiler mixer from from this engine. I’ve watched the video for the 1999 model, and my only concern is the arm coming from the bottom carburetor to the oil pump itself. Here are the pictures below.

Thank you for anyone’s feedback.

Why as these rarely fail...that why Merc didnt put sensors on oil pump. Only oil failure you will see is if link arm popps off(really rare). These motors mainly fail from overpropped/lugging or temp issues.

Customer wants it disabled, he says it’s idling poorly. Myself I’m thinking the carbs just need a cleaning, but he wants this done first.

The customer is usually right.----The customer has the coins to get this done.------But what other trouble shooting has been done to perhaps find the real problem ??-----I would simply take the oil pump discharge and T it to the oil pump intake line.-----Just make the oil pump circulate the oil.-----Would be easy to put the system back in service.

Draining all the gas out to see if maybe some water got in the mix which is making it idle poorly. He’s wanting to mix his own fuel, so he wants to do away with the auto mixer and see if the mix is the problem. I don’t think the mix is the problem, myself but what the customer wants, they get.

I venture to guess that the owner is not well versed in 2 stroke oil mixing and how a 2 stroke operates.----My grandson uses a 1963 model motor and at 24:1 runs and trolls like it is still new.
