Disconnecting VRO on '94 Evinrude

I have a 1994 Evinrude 175 OceanPro. I'm getting the 40 second "low oil" alarm, although the tank is full and it appears that the oil injector is working fine. So I can sleep at night, I'd like to bypass the VRO and do the 50:1 mixture myself. Can anyone give me step-by-step instructions to disconnect the oil injection system?

Thanks much.

Yeah Murph...no problem.

Look inside the engine around the VRO pump and see if you still got a little yellow hose plug with a rubber cap on it. If not, go to the Johnny/Rude dealer and get the rubber cap. This is to put over the oil nipple at the engine pan. Us a wire strap to secure.

You can either plug the oil line from the VRO tank or remove the tank all together. Up inside the engine pan, look for a black lead that looks like a table lamp wire. When you fine it, disconnect the connections at the end. This is the low reservoir alarm lead.

Find the harness from the VRO pump and disconnect it at the amphenol connector. This is a fancy name for rubber plug. Leave the connectors in the engine. Cover the ends with tape.

Mix your gas 50:1 in the tank and your good to go.

Just be sure the oil nipple at the pan is covered and leak proof. You don't want to suck air through it.

Good Luck!

Maybe this will help. Once you follow the other side of the oil line inside the engine compartment that is connected to the nipple, it will lead you right to the VRO.

OBJ:

I also thought about disconnecting the VRO on my Envinrude because I sufferded some engine damage on my waverunner when the oil jection system went bad. But I have technical question. How does the pump continue to function when you seal up the oil inlet on the engine cowl and remove the oil tank? I'm just assuming that there is sometype of air inlet on the oil tank that allows the oil to flow, somewhat like an air inlet on a 5 gallon portable gas tank that allows the gas to pour freely. Also, since the VRO is a self contained unit, isn't some of the oil coming in used to lubricate the check valves and keep the pump running efficiently?
