I have around 80 gallons of old gas...around 5 years old... that is in my dad's boat. What is the best way to dispose of it?

Can't answer your question, but, the fact that you ask leads me to believe you'll dispose of it properly. Thanks for that. I'm thinking in CA there's got to be a lot of hazardous materials pros. In New England we have a company called Clean Harbors which can get rid of any pollution/material problem. Maybe there's someone out your way like that?

Boy,,, 80 gallons is a lot of gas. Especially at todays prices. I would not burn it in a computerized car. At my farm place I have a 67 IH tractor that will run on about anything. A old pickup or car with a carburetor would probley still burn it too if you blended it off with some good stuff. I was going to say run it in your lawn-mower but, you better have a big lawn to use 80 gallons. lol

I think you could get rid of it by blending it with good gas. Don't put more than 10% old gas to new gas. I have ran fuel injected vehicles on gas that was over 4 years old because that was what was in them when I revived them, all I did was top the tank off with new gas and they ran fine. I would pour it though a filter before I put it in anything. I get rid of all my old gas though my John Deere tractor, just like Caveman Charlie with his IH tractor.

What he said^^^^^ up there. My city wont take old gas but our county recycling center will. I burned 3 year old gas in my truck. topped off my 34 gallon tank in my pickup with about 5 gallons or so at a time. did not see any ill effects

Re: Disposing of old fuel

if you lived neer by i would pick it up for you. i would just dump it in 5 gallon cans. every time your ready to fill up dump a can in your tank and top off with fresh gas probably wouldn't be a bad idea to get a case of gas line water remover. both my trucks have tanks over 20gals so 5 gallons is less than 25% iv run gas older than that and at todays gas prices id rather run it than end up paying to get rid of it. i have burned gas older than that

Re: Disposing of old fuel

yeah.... uh...... 4.50 a gallon....... illl take it! :D

burn it 5 gals a time in your fully fueled car.

every time you fill your car (not your lawn mower or other 2 stroke)
just add some till its gone!
youll never know its there, and save yourself 200 bucks (@ 210 a gallon US)

or you could start a new carrer as a side show guy like gene simmons from kiss

cheers
