My boat has the old, PRE-Vortec 5.7, its the old style that has the perimeter bolt valve covers. I has a points distributor. I am thinking about using the newer style EST distributor that was used in the vortec style small blocks that had the center bolt valve covers. This distributor is also called the delco voyager.. Will the newer vortec style EST distributor work in the old style 5.7? Unsure if the distributor shaft length changed or the drive gear to camshaft changed or....?

It will fit. Small block Chevy distributor dimension are pretty much unchanged since it came out.

Good deal. Now, how can it work on an old engine with no PCM to control it? What will control the timing and all? Ive had vehicles with this same distributor but they were fuel injected and had a PCM.. Also, will the advance be fine for my boat, meaning, it wont be too aggressive or anything compared to my old points distributor?

It's made for running without a computer. It has an electronic spark curve, something like 20 degrees. The install manual is available online, it'll explain it.
You are talking about the marine version and not just yanking one out of a truck in a junkyard I trust.
