Did you remove the timing jumper and reconnect the interrupter wires back on?

Yes, checked again and it looks like it only advanced maybe 2 degrees at 2500 rpm

Not sure the module is getting power via the purple wire

Seems like it either stays in regular mode when I try to put it in baseboard or it stays in Regular mode when I try to take it out of base mode in both cases I’m using the right process of turning the engine on or off at the right time etc. etc. It just doesn’t sound different when I put it into base mode

So I finally got it to advance. However, took it to the lake and couldn’t get it to go over 2000 rpm. Will not advance under load. Prop is 19 pitch which appears to be what is recommended for engine and Bayliner classic 1950.

Purple wire has 12v. Strange thing is that when plugged into cutoff switch, the white/green wire only gets .9 volts but when bypassed, same wire gets 12v.

You could be one tooth off when stabbing the dizzy in the motor. The motor would start, but the one tooth will put the timing and the timing marks off a few degrees from where the should be. Try lifting the dizzy up and at the same time rotate the rotor till you feel the teeth come free , then rotate the rotor only, clockwise till the dizzy will drop down to the next tooth of the cam gear. When the piston is at TDC the rotor should be just past the # 1 plug wire post about 4 to 5 % to make up for the advance timing of the motor.

I had it so at tdc the timing mark was at 0degrees and the teeth were all pointing to each and the rotor was on or about the first plug location. Timing with strobe also read 0 degrees. After careful reading I followed exact procedure to unplug from base mode and it did advance. However on the lake today could not go over 2000 rpm. Checked advance with strobe and just got the 0 - 2 degrees with no advance again! Tried pouring fuel in carb but that did not help at all ( flooded it) so I know it’s not a fuel issue. Prop is 19 pitch as recommended. There is a noticeable bog (loss of rpm) after half throttle under load. I put in the old module and exact same issue. HELP!

Sure wish folks would list what motor so I don't have to go look for it

Timing 1 BTDC

You have a new bad module. This has happened before and some have replaced them more then once to get a good one. Folks have even bought bew EST distributors that had a bad module

I want the other one as the main active on please

Then this one will be closed. It is too confusing when you ask questions in two threads , receive advice which is often conflicting and members don't know what is said in the other thread.
