 Hello group, I am installing a new Mallory Marine Dist.(YLU621CV) in my 89 2.3L OMC Eng. (232BPRMEF). A previous owner had removed the OMC dist. and coil and cut the ESA wiring.
The Mallory Instructions says it must have a Ignition Ballast Resistor or Loom Resistance wire installed between the ignition switch and the coil. I have the OMC Service Manual and looking at the ignition circuit wiring diagram I do not see this listed. Only a 50 amp and 20 amp fuse listed inline.
#1- Am I correct in thinking I will need to install the ballast resistor in the line?

#2- I am replacing the ESA with the following link below due to the switch to an electronic Ignition system. Is this correct?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE HELP!!! Ed

Ayuh,... Check it with a multimeter... 12v is direct wiring, about 9v is resistored..
