Distributor question for a 140hp 80s crysler?

Im looking for a distributor for a 80s model 140hp crysler. Can someone tell me where to purchase one and how much i should expect to pay?

Any four cylinder distrinutor from any Chrysler engine will swap in. Any Four--100, 105, 115, 120, 125, 135, 140, 150.

Electronic is better than points, more precise and never shifts timing with wear, but either will fire the CD box.

Price is determined by condition and demand, with electronic distributors costing more. If I were to sell you an electronic dist. in good condition, I would be asking a couple of hundred. You would probably do better on ebay or by buying a whole junker engine. Before you ask: Unfortunately, I do not have any extras.

It appears the distributor advances when I give it more throttle. Is the correct?

Correct! there is no centrifugal advance or vacuum advance like on older autos. Since the points or electric eye are attached to the distributor body, as you advance the throttle, the distributor turns and the eye or points advance. Thus the box fires earlier to advance the timing. However, because of the design of the linkage, full throttle will usually go past the point of maximum travel and timing will retard about a degree or two. It is typical to retard timing just a tad from maximum advance for full power operation with most gasoline engines

This is a benefit that can not be had with the newer Prestolite distributorless ignition systems.
