86 johnson 6hp, has exhaust exiting back of motor. Is there a way to divert out away from boat or into the water. My merc's exhaust is thru the prop,I may be asking to much.
The exhaust does go into the water. Just above and behind the prop is the exhaust snout. What's coming out the back is a small portion. It's there for two reasons. Mainly to aid in starting and idling when there's a lot of back pressure on the exhaust which exits underwater. You can also see water spray there to confirm that the water pump is working.
