I have a generic strap on/trailer type cover, as well as the oem complicated top. I'd like just a snap on cockpit cover; the snaps are already on the boat. Has anyone made their own cover using a piece of canvas or tarp or something with the mating snaps?

Well, answered my own question. Bought a snap kit on amazon for $15 or so, and just used a $5 harbor freight tarp. Took me 45 minutes to install the snaps. Came out great, though I have concerns about the durability of the tarp. Best of all, takes 90 seconds to cover the boat. On my phone ATM, let's see if iboats will let me post pics...

Quick and easy. Looks like it will work for keeping the sun and light rain off the boat.

Probably not real durable, wouldn't tow with it on.

Keep an eye on cl for a used cover or at garage sales. The Admiral picked up a nice 16' canvas cover for my small boat for $10. No holes, rips or tears

I did something similar with mine. I went to Joanne fabrics and picked up some duck canvas. I then waterproofed it with wax. Everyone said it wouldn't hold up, that was 4 years ago....
