I bought a boat over a month ago brought everything to the DMV including the lien release did everything properly. They screwed up and sent me a Title w/ a lien still on it. Called the DMV number spoke to an idiot who directed me to another place that was closed during the weekday. Called again got through and got redirected to the same number as before, I could tell from the options. Got frustrated talked to previous owner who just so happens to work for a car dealer. He said it happens a lot. He had to run around to get me a new signed lien release go to the mobile DMV where I registered it and they said I was fine as long as I keep the lien and the title together. I paid the boat in full and I don't want to see a lien on the Title. I also want to make sure there are no surprises down the road. He said I would have to pay $25 to have it remove or go to the larger office to spend more time waiting in que to fix there screw up.

So I found out why everyone hates the DMV. I wish the Gov made being an honest citizen easier.

Here on Virginia's BEAUTIFUL Eastern Shore it's "how 'bout it"

DMV's are the same everywhere.

Re: DMV = Hell on Earth!

Louisiana, at least my city, has finally figured out how to make a DMV that works.

Whenever I go, even if they are slammed, I never seem to be there more than 30 minutes and my record is 2 and a half minutes from walking in the front door to out the back.

You walk in, tell the lady in the front what you need, she presses a button and gives you a ticket. That ticket will direct you to the proper person by its number, for example A124 could be license renewals, for example. They announce "A123 at window number 13" and you better stay alert, you're next. And they blink your number on the LED sign above the window in case you couldn't hear what window to go to. There is plenty of seating, it's a brand new building....it's nice. The DMV is no longer hell on earth like it used to be.

At any given time there are at least 14 windows active sorting everyone and helping them, along with the lady who takes the photos and a couple of people giving driving tests and motorcycle license tests.

The one damn thing Louisiana has done right is our DMV.

Water - our county DMV operates similar. Ya walk in, select what ya want to do, and get a ticket. A large screen will let you know how many minutes your wait may be. So one could do some shoppin' or maybe a quick nine holes and make it back without standing in the DMV all that long.

Our DMVs in SE WI does a nice job, take a number, and wait for not too long to take care of what you need. They do not, however, deal with boats at all.
Years ago , before they had the take a number thing, it was hell:eek:
Anything with a boat is done through the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). They are very helpful, and even quick at times.
