Im getting a DNS error and can't log onto the iboats site from a number of different computers. I have always been able to access this site from all my computers. Now only one computer will access iboats. Has anything changed in the last couple of weeks, software/website wise???

Can't speak to the iboats site but need a little more info. Are all your computers on the same network? Do you maintain your own downline DNS? Do all the computers use the same service provider (ISP)?

could be with the ISP, can you try the ISP that works on one unit with the units that have problems? The ISP may have changed there DNS, if so you will need to call them. Will the computers go to other sites and not iboats?

If all 4 are having problem, sounds like that ISP has a hickup in their DNS server.... should clear itself in a couple days, if not..... try another server.

Here is the DNS server for a local ISP that I have been using for about 6 years, very reliable.... but far away from you, so just use it until your isp gets their ****e together

205.242.92.2
it's for Primary Network in St. Louis, rock solid.

I will chime in here as well. It's definetly the ISP's DNS server that is screwing with you. He may not be able to change his DNS server if they are dynamically assigned to you. I'd call your ISP even though that may not get you anywhere.

The other option is do you have a router between the 4 computers and the high speed modem? Did you try restarting everything including modem & router?

Sean

I'd try to get a message to the DNS administrator that his DNS is out of date and the dynamic updates may not be getting done. He may already know it, but turn the screw a little tighter.

EDIT: If you're on wireless with your own router, it may be acting as a DNS. Like eeboater said, reboot if you haven't already.
