Do bellows need adhesive / sealant?

The manual keeps talking about bellows adhesive. Do you use that or rtv, maybe nothing? What is normal?

Mercruser recommends bellows adhesive, Volvo doesn't.
You do not have to use it, the adhesive is not acting as a sealer.
It's just a safety thing if the clamp should break. DO NOT use RTV.
