Just got into wakeboarding and loving it. My hands always get pretty sore, though. How much do gloves help?

Don't think gloves are going to help with soreness all that much. I'm assuming the soreness is coming from the inside (muscles) rather than pain on the surface of your hands. That's pretty normal given the strain you're putting on them, especially if you don't have strong hands. You might try one of those grip strength builders. Or I'm sure that you'll just naturally build up more strength over time with wakeboarding and see less and less pain as you go.

It's actually just a surface soreness while I'm boarding. No lasting soreness after I stop. If I'm riding long, I have to put the tow handle in the crook of my arm for a few seconds to let a little of the soreness stop, then continue.

I have gloves for my kids. They feel much more comfortable with them on. If they don't they wind up dipping their hands into the spray to shop them from aching. They also keep the hands warmer so the muscles stay looser.
I have gloves for each of them, as wet gloves are hard to put on sometimes.

I use gloves and my hands are not nearly as sore as they were w/out them. I found that the stretch of the skin and the onset of blisters were much reduced.

Gloves help. I wear them and thought they helped a little bit. A girl friend of mine wore gloves on her second time out and she expressed that it was a huge positive difference for her and that they really helped. Soft hands maybe?

I just use my figerless bike riding gloves, they have nice padding in the palm of the hand. I haven't coughed up the 30+ bucks for water sport gloves but noticed they lack any padding...

Last year I used gloves, this year I misplaced them and never bought new ones. My hands have definitely been more sore this year than last.

I think gloves definitely help with my grip on the handle, thereby reducing fatigue and soreness in my hands. I do notice a difference if I don't put them on.

If you grab a handle thats going to get wet and have massive force on your skin .. um .. yea wear gloves :) ..

Take the gloves off as soon as you leave the water.
