Have my project boat out on the water and it's running at 3/4 throttle. I adjusted the cable as far as I could but didn't help much. Now I see the linkage leading to the (toggle) on the side of the carb that has a roller, this speeds up the engine really nice... yahoo! fast. I can pull the plastic pin and cotter pin and turn it out. Is this what needs adjusting to get full throttle? Engine was a new fit on a different boat. 1972 ESL 50 hp. Johnson.

Get a manual, you can't just start twisting things in the engine, the timing and throttle are linked, if you adjust one you have to adjust the other and you have to do it right or the motor won't run right.

Get an OMC manual, either here at iboats or on Ebay, it will go over exactly how you adjust your linkage.

Or search the FAQ for Link and sync, it goes over the basics and also look for "Joe Reeves WOT timing, it tells you how to set the timing without having to run the motor.
