Do I have an extra hose?

At some point in my boats life, the previous owner must have tried a heater install. I found the heater core along with the auto fan (both disconnected, leaking I suspect). It looked like a clever idea, just executed a bit unorthodox. In any case, when looking at photos of other OMC 3.0 engines, I do not see this extra hose. This would be the feed and return for the heater core, and it is just connected in a loop. Does this hose belong? If it is extra, should I remove it and plug it off? Will it affect the cooling of the engine? Maybe get a cheap heater core, a bilge blower, and hook up the heater/defrost again? TIA

Have you disconnected the hose to the location on the left? I just looked at my 3.0 and all I have is metal nub. Curious if yours is drilled out. Location to the right, looks like an added adapter. The same spot on mine has a screw hub (metal) and grounding wire attached. Definitely not an expert here but it comparison to mine, looks added.

Ayuh,.... You can either leave it be, or add a heater,...

No reason at all to remove, 'n plug it off...

Re: Do I have an extra hose?

Thanks! It must be drilled out, because the water flows through the hose. In fact, I put a piece of reinforced vinyl hose in its place so I can watch the water going though. Can I leave the vinyl or should I put the black hose back on? I like the idea of the heater, but I think that will be a spring 2013 project.
