well, thanks to all the great advice i've recieved on this forum, i've finally got my motor put back together and it's running better than ever!!! it's a 1976 25 hp evinrude 2-stroke outboard. i do have one more question for anyone who might know the answer,....(im not one to fix something that's not broken) but i was mainly just curious, i've got a set of ac delco spark plugs on the motor,..# r45, and i was wondering if this was a compatible plug, or if for some reason it may damage the motor in the long run? like i said,... its running great right now, i set the gap to the service manual specs,....but i was curious to make sure!!!

thanks in advance for any help!!

id use the marine plugs as they are designed to run with the oil.
I cant remember the numbers tho. has a 77 in it.
Look at the BRP wed site and it should be there, somewhere...

looks like the right plug is a NGK B6S or Champian RJ8C or compairable.

Current recommendation is Champion J4C gapped at 0.030"

(Source Shop.evinrude.com official parts list and also Contiuouswave.com)

(The NGK equivalent is B7S)

I cannot see RJ8C listed for any Johnson/Evinrude motor!
