Do I have trim issues too?

I have been reading in a couple posts about some trim issues. I will describe the best I can. I have the trim buttons on the dashboard. I have 3 buttons running straight down and from top to bottom it says: UP UP OUT IN. Now when I press the "IN" button it goes down. Then when I want to bring the drive up I need to press the two "UP" buttons (the first and second button) at the same time in order for it to come up. If I press the middle button by its self I get nothing. When I bought the boat the guy said that is they way it is supposed to be. I looked at the print in another post that DONS and Haut provided but really have not studied it too hard. Is this the way it is supposed to be or am I going to need to grab my meter and do a little testing?

IN and OUT should both operate the trim. If not, the limit switch on the side of the gimbal may be stuck or out of adjustment. Or a wire has come off. Look for a black lampcord style wire coming through the transom.
UP and UP should only be required for tilt function.

I don't see any wires????? My meter is at work I will have to bring it home before I test any thing.

my 82 4winns mercruiser 120 is like that but the buttons are on the throttle lever; 2 top ones together to lift it up and the bottom(3rd) by itself to lower the unit.
Should be fine:D
