Thanks to your answers I was able to get the cone off my Volvo Penta 270 drive and the prop slipped right off too. The VP number is 814633 which is a 14x19 RH. I've got 2 questions.

1) There are a few very small dings on the outside of two of the three blades. If they're really small do I have to replace or repair the prop if I don't feel any vibration when running.

2) Is there a different size/pitch that would give the same performance if I found one on ebay.

Re: Do I need a new prop?

harrisg There is a prop forum if you look. Some guy there named Walleyehead or something like that is some kind of prop guru.I'm sure he will help.As far as what pitch to go with maybe I can help.1st. when you run W.O.T what is your tach running at? Your AQ125A should run at or very close to 5000 rpm's.If your too low then go to a 14x17.I cant remember what type, how big a boat you have.Mine is a 1984 195 Capri bowrider(bayliner) I had a 14x19 and was running too low rpm's.Proped down to a 14x17.Runs 5000 wot.

Almost forgot a new prop cost me $197. with tax at a volvo shop.I don't think a couple small dings would get me to drop that kind of cash but......

Re: Do I need a new prop?

Thanks Trebor0301. I'll move it over to the prop forum. My manual says 4400 - 4800 rpm. I'm at about 4200 now so I think I'll drop down to 14x17 and see what happens. I'm keeping my eyes open for a used volvo prop.
