I seem to remember reading the study done a few years ago: men use around 2000 words per day while women use 7000 words per day :^

Except on iboats where the vast majority of women (except the great ones like LF!) disappear after a few weeks.........maybe they ran out of things to say? Then again, maybe nuclear fusion power will produce energy so cheap there won't be a need to pay for it either :}

Women talk more cause it takes a lot of words to explain things to men.

Men talk a lot when they are involved in a subject they are intensely interested in (boats, cars, hunting, racing, sports, hobby, etc.).
Women talk a lot when they are involved in a discussion (about anything).

Women talk more cause it takes a lot of words to explain things to men.

I know that routine LF. Even once the point is made ya can't shut off the faucet. My usual response?

"I got the point, there is no need to continue on with the explanation!"

Needless to say, that does not go over very well, but hey, once you've gotten your point across and it is acknowledged, SHUT UP!!

One thing I have noticed over my time spent on this earth is that women are by and large more congenial and polite to one another than their male counterparts.

You're right ob! But, that is on the surface, they'll be talking s..ht the second they walk away from each other. Women talk smack about each other way more then men do. I can't understand how they can act friendly but deep down they hate each other guts.
