Do you guys , paint ? How ?

I was working on , the final things on a V-4 crossflow. <br /> And, I was wondering . <br /> How do you guys, paint the powerhead , after a rebuild?<br /> I see , alot that like to paint , after its assembled.<br /> I clean-up , and paint, each component individually , then assemble.<br /> I leave all bolt heads, nice and shiney. <br /> I mask all bolt holes before painting.<br /> I just like the way it looks.<br /> Sometimes, I paint bolt heads a different color.<br /> Just curious, thanks.<br /> <br /> Believe it or not, colored permanent markers . Will last, a long time, on the bolt heads. <br /><br /> I buy a set with several colors. <br /> <br /> Does look cool.<br /> <br /> KYHunter

I just cleaned the two I rebuild up, covered intake and cranckshaft ends, washed down with thinner, primed and sprayed semigloss black. Looked great when asembled, really satisfying.

Sorry , I put it in wrong forum. I was thinking it was the final touch , when rebuilding. Though , not a repair. KY....Tempo has some good paint in the spray cans. I like it better than the paint we get from BRP. When I do a block, I'll touch it up with the Tempo paint. I just re-done a 9.9 block. Before putting it back together, I stripped it and got all the old paint off. Put the block back together except for the carb, wiring, starter and all that stuff. Cleaned it good in acetone, gave it a coat of Zinc Chromate, and then finished off with Tempo Mercury Black. Dynoooooooomite!<br /><br />I masked off areas where the stator and flywheel goes as well as the carb area. I also took the time to mask areas that I know will be used as grounds.

<br />I didn't paint the head bolts, purely for looks.

KY, you need to have a pic hosting site to be able to post pics on the forum. Go to photobucket dot com and post them there. Then you will have a

deal under your picture that you can use to post the pic here.<br />Hope that helped!<br /> Dave

I use tinypic.com a lot, since it's very simple to use and needs no registration. It's helpful for people who are not photo wizards since it'll automatically make the picture reasonably small to post. After you upload your picture there, just copy the IMG field it spits out and paste it into your post. <br />My post up there looked like this when I wrote it:<br /><br />

Thanks Paul, If it worked this is a much earlier picture . I have done alot more to it, since this pic. But, I lent my digital camera to a friend to put some crap on e-bay. <br /> I've also installed powerhead, so the next pics will be with it all together. Ill post asap, waitin on the borrower. That looks really good! I have to say, it's not what I had imagined. It's much better.
