Wheaton Crusaders (oops, got to be more PC, so it is Thunder now).

Prefer the college game to the pro game, but if we have to chose a pro team, go Penguins - they are more like a college team anyway, with 3 players 19 years old or younger. Hey, and they beat the Flyers last night, that has to count for something!

As said-NO.

It's just guys beating each other with sticks. The only difference is they're on ice. OK, so we have frozen
"Nordics" beating each other, on ice.

I see NO redeeming value.

DWJ,

You don't know someone who could use a good beating with a stick?

I thought they made that against the rules. If they haven't I may have to start watching!

Not a hockey fan but I did go to two playoff games and a SC finals game last year. Alot of people around here jumped on the "Canes bandwagon", almost as many have fallen off already.

Yes, to those that don't like the game, I understand, its really a niche sport that needs to stop trying to be the NFL or NBA. Build strong markets where it fits and works and not worry about the places that are good on paper (tv revenues and such). No I'm not one of those pull all teams from the south and California types. If the market supports the team then let them be, if not, places like hartford, winnipeg, quebec, etc deserve another shot. Sadly it is a big business and money has to be made and some teams will not make it in there current markets. Team like Detroit (my hometown boys) have struggled in the past and recovered to become very succesful franchises while others are always going to be borderline financially.
San Jose will be one of the elite teams this year. But I still wouldn't rule out any of the canadian teams(well maybe toronto  ).
