Re: Do you like your cuddy cabin?

My brother in law has a really nice center console. His family hates it. I mean its big, has a nice top over the console, everyone else fries in the sun. There is a nice sitting/standing chair for the Captian, everyone else has to fit on one bench seat in the back (frying in the sun) inches from the 225hp outboard. Can you hear me now?

Its big, acers of space, I mean you can play tennis on that boat and not worry about losing the ball.

Best darn fishing boat I was ever on. Never had anything get in the way of my line, could run around the boat in circles all day.

But when I had to use the toilet, the darn thing was stuffed in a tiny space under the dashboard. Couldn't even stand up straight. Had to open the door to .... Well you get the idea.

My sister hates that boat because no one wants to go for a nice cruise to a beach and hang out. The boat is for fishing and not much else. No where to lay down, no seats that turn into lounges, no swim platform, and no shade.

My sister loves my little 16' Bayliner Cuddy. She couldn't stop making comments about how practical it is when you are dragging around kids. Between the two of us, (we both left our spouses home and had the kids) we had 5 kids between 3 and 13 on the boat plus us two adults. And there was plenty of space because 3 of the little ones were in the cuddy.

Just sharing my experience.

BTW, nothing against my BIL, he is my best friend.

They all have their place and a new boater should make sure they know what they want to do with the boat.Being a gearhead and starting on the Jetboats.(Real jet boats with big blocks and tunnel rams).Moving up to different boats was a factor.I owned a 30 Century Cortez.I wanted a boat to entertain on.This was not the right choice. Oh it would seat 10 in the cabin. But no one was ever in their becouse it was "as tashasdaddy says a sweatbox".Not enough room in the cockpit for 6 made it a higntmare to trim.Does not matter It was a great learning experience with the crappy old OMC outdrive. After owning many boats I now own a walk around with a small cabin that makes alot of sense.I am still trying to get up to 33'+ with at least a 13' beam to entertain on but any boat is a good boat as long as you know what your in for getiing into it.I personally like overpowered trihulls but I dont recomend that.
