Hi all,

I am a frequent reader and only an occassional poster. I was without iboats recently due to some internet reason and since I have been back there seems to be a lot of *****ing and negativity on the site. Personally I love reading all the posts and have a good laugh(thanks Barb), I also use the site to further my knowledge and help me keep my motor running as well as I can  . Let's remember we all have one thing in common. WE LOVE BOATS. :D That is why this site is better than any other I have found, people are knowledgable and helpfull.

Love is an awful strong word there Andrew, jus kidn! That is the thing about this board, sometimes there is good attitudes and bad. Then sometimes they just clash. Some are offended, and some doesn't let it bother them.

Best part of being a frequent lurker is that sometimes you get to see pre-zapped posts! :D

Yeah, I know. It is just sometimes I think people forget the one thing that brought us all here (boats) and the bond that we share. I love good debate  and indepth discussion, the personal affronts are the only troubling aspect. :(

I think there are periods of negativity that go away with time. Comes and Goes. I like many came here because of a repair question...... :)

Oh yeah, I remember why. I came here last fall for some tech advice, but I really got my money's :) worth this spring when I remodeled my boat. The forums were a huge help last April when I was in the garage every night and on the weekends, busting my butt. Would've been a lot harder, if iboats wasn't around. I'm looking forward to tackling my next boat with iboats, as well!

Re: Do you Remember why you LOVE iboats

I came here for the projecty boat stuff, and that is still what I prefer. The unfortunate thing is I have no current project, so I have to live vicariously through the others on the Project Forum. It seems like there have been a few who have come on, and for the life of me I can't figure out if they have a boat or not, because they have never posted anything boat oriented. I have to assume they have one, why come to a boat site just to participate in the fun-fest known as Dockside?

I really cant remember how or why I got to iboats a few years back. has it actually been a few years ?
anyway I found I liked the folks and its helped me fit my asbestoes skivvies and occasionally I can assist with some advice and tech help.
but overall I keep comeing back because its the most comfortable spot on the net I have found, the guy that flamed ya in the last post will help ya out in the next.

Re: Do you Remember why you LOVE iboats

I came here looking for a prop... Saw "boating forums" up in the corner...

I look at the projects and boating stuff, even put my 2 cents in once in a while, but when I see neat things that members have done with their boats my imagination starts flowing about more boat project stuff that I can't afford right now (being one of them rich white honkey boaters, yaknow) :p ...

So I mostly hang around "the cellar"... (met some good folks here in the cellar too) :)

Re: Do you Remember why you LOVE iboats

sure do AH, came looking for resto info for a Slickcraft boat I had. Started in, became enthralled with what member JJ did with his "skanky beast" project, and have not turned back. Soon my Imperial Trihull "beast" project boat will come to fruition. Takes time on my end due to Family Duties as well as other stuff I do.

Otherwise, I sure love talking with the folks here on "dockside"........enjoy this forum my friend! :)

Re: Do you Remember why you LOVE iboats

Believe it or not, I don't own a boat. I have never owned a boat. Been in/on/around boats all my life, including a short stay aboard USS Iowa back in the 80's. Tinkered with boat motors before I ever tinkered with cars. Been working on outboard motors for a few years now.....

I came here originally because I was bored one evening, and decided to look for a good on-line source for wiring diagrams or specific diagnostic procedures for some of the models we don't have manuals for at the shop. Never did find a good source either...... But I did find a site where the folks in the forums seemed knowledgable and helpful. I think I stayed here about 3 hours that evening reading, sometimes laughing, often nodding in agreement...

I'm a newbie here, but think I'll not be for long!
