Ok, going to show my age.
Nav equipment on my dad's boat consisted of "flasher" depth sounder, speedo, RDF and a watch. Plotted on paper charts with dividers and parallel rulers. Eldridge tide book by the side as well as Bowditch's "Practical Navigator". Dad taught celestial navigation for USPS (was a navigator in B17s) and I learned how to use a sextant and sight reduction tables from him and the Navy.
