When I first started boating in the 90's with a 2-stroke, I was told to run the gas out of my motor when I finished for the day. Now today with storage additives and 4 strokes and EFI's what is one to do?

Some dealers say run in out while others say only to run it out with winter storage. Any opinions. Unfortunately mu manual says nothing about it. I have a 2007 Merc 40 stroke 50 hp EFI which I use once a week.

Running a 2-stroke out of gas, also runs it out of oil... fuel stabilizer is the way to go for winter.

and if it runs like crap in the spring, it only takes about an hour to clean your carbs if you know what you're doing. :)

Do you run a 4-stroke EFI out of gas after you use it, but expect to use it within a week or two?

No! It is not necessary or advised as Scatty just explained.

jjbuoni - One thing you must remember with your engine. Running an EFI 4-stroke out of fuel can in some cases overheat, seize, and ruin the expensive high-pressure fuel pump on the engine.
