Do you think this will work!!!

I had a lot of Sediment in my pressure tank. The motor is a QD-18. I ran great one day and the next day not so
great. With help from everyone here, I found the glass sediment bowl full of garbage. I had a plastic tank and fuel line
already. I tapped the by pass cover. The lines are close fitting but they are fitting under the hood. I still need to plud
the old air line from the intake. I just want to make sure I have not overlooked something.

Im surprised the cowl closed for you with the pump out like that, but if it works great. Im sure you werent finished and jus took the pics to show the basics but dont forget the hose clamps, dont want any air leaks or leaking fuel.

I think the last one I did I mounted the Mikuni under the carb, seemed to keep it out of the way and the lines short.

I remember seeing a vid where a guy mounted his outside of the cowl all together. It was weird looking, but seemed to work well enough as he was cruising around.

You are correct sir, I haven't finished and I do have the clamps. I did not think of the area under the carb. I am probably going to have to
take the carb off and clean it. I will sure try this area and see if it works. Is there any thing to avoid in that area other than the
linkage. Does the length of the hoses make much difference. Thanks again, these good ideas really help.

The glass bowl prevents the pump from being centered due to the loop of line coming off the pressure barb, but other than that it fit ok.

I dont think the length you have would cause any ill effects, but in general you would want as short a run as you can. Im not saying that there is anything wrong with your setup, it is definately easier to get at than where I mount them, I just find under the carb is out of the way and easier for removing/replacing the cowl.

You want to keep the pulse hose short as possible.
What I'm seeing (I think) is you have removed the bypass cover. Is that right? You probably will lose some performance because the bypass cover has a deflector to direct the fuel charge into the intake ports.

In an ideal world you should fill the cavity in the bypass cover with something like epoxy or JB weld, then stack your adapter plate on top of it and drill the pulse hole through the whole assembly. You will need a gasket between the adapter and bypass cover.

Why fill the cavity?? Because that space adds to the cubic inches of space within the crankcase, affecting crankcase compression ratio, and performance. How much effect?? I dunno, but some.

I filled the cavity with JB Weld. The deflector is still there as before. I just drilled and tapped the filled by pass cover to add the
hose barb. Thanks.
