HAhahaha, LOL LOL LOL LOL

All you have to do is not submerge your tube, and not whip anyone too hard. Which if your tower tow point is anywhere near the center of your boat you will not get a whip the way you can off the back.

.

wow... you are so smart...bet noone ever thought of that!

Another 2 cents worth. !!!
From what I have read, no you don't tow tubes because of the stress on the mounting points. We have a Monster M1 and was told not to tow tubes with it.
A wakeboarder has constant pressure on the tower all be it varying,
When a tube pops up off the water then comes back down hard thats where the problem ly's so i have been told.
Anyway enjoy the your wakeboarding or tubing.

Constand but varying? Say what?

A wakeboarder has nowhere near constant pressure. There is different loading while cutting, depending on the cut depends on the pull force. Getting up, being in the air, landing... and all at different angles.

A wakeboarder pulls harder than a tube....unless you submarine the tube. Thats when you rip the tower off. This all depends on what tube you have, how strongly mounted it is, how big the tube is, and how fat the tuber is...
I see no reason to tow a tube with a tower, except for eliminating line spray, but the back hook on my boat is high enough to stop that anyway.

I guess my wake is bigger than most then. My rope always gets caught down in the wake walls in turns if its on the ski pole.

I have a 2008 sea ray 185 sport with the factory tower. I just got off the phone with sea ray regarding this question and they told me the tower was approved for wake board, skis and tube.

I would not tow anything other than a wakeboarder from the tower, the drag from a tube is huge and can end up with damage over long term ...

As long as the rope is long enough away from the boat to keep the tube down you should be fine. I've done it plenty of times

Hah... actually 4 years old. Started in 2009, came back to life in 2010, and just again a few days ago.

If this is true (not saying your lying) then why does 75% of people on here say do NOT pull a tube with a wake tower? Is the Sea Ray tower designed differently than others? Would you be willing to post some pics of your wake tower? Main reason I want to pull my tube with a wake tower is to keep the tube from diving into the water at low speeds.

Re: Do you tow a tube with your tower?

I think there is a big difference between an tower installed on a Mastercraft and a Monster Tower on a Bayliner. Is it safer tubing behind the Mastercraft that was engineered with a massive wakeboard tower - of course. The huge load of a submerged tube would absolutely be a big safety risk behind the Bayliner/Monster Tower (or any aftermarket tower). At best you have damage to your hull. At worst, parts of your tower get ripped off and sent into/through your boat occupants. As with all things, the experience of the driver means everything. If you're taking it easy, keeping the tube behind the boat, have a light rider, and are watching for big waves, then you MAY be OK. But then it only takes once for something tragic to happen. In my mind, and behind my boat, et's really just not worth the risk to tow from the tower just to keep some rope spray out of the tubers faces...that's what the factory engineered tow point is for.
