yep year round. southern cal. but my boats are small, so big winds and swells are bit of a drag. one is a 13 foot boston whaler, and it's very seaworthy and safe in the rough stuff but still uncomfortable in the wind and waves. the other boat is a 13 foot classic fiberglass runabout, [span america]. it's fun to go out in, in the way that a classic old car is fun, but nowhere near the seaworthiness of the whaler.

Northern California, I would go year round, but it dips below freezing here, and the combination of cold/windy/choppy weather PLUS having to drain the boat afterwards is too much of deterrent. I don't fish (yet), if I did, I might think differently.

REALLY makes me want on outboard instead of an I/0!

Ours lives at the side of the garage over the winter. The only use it gets is as a Christmas light hanger around the bow rail. Had extra lights one year and strung them across. It kind of became tradition after that.

Too cold on Mead in the winter for water sports so we get out the desert toys.

Mead does occasionally get down to the teens, but the lake never freezes.

most of our boating is done in the relatively mild-year-round socal ocean... BUT we have a lake boat out at the wife's grandparents house in between lake havasu and lake Mohave. in the winter, even on a cool day in the desert, we found a cove with a big high sandy dune that blocks the wind and faces directly into the sun, so it amplifies the radiance. you can be toasty and comfy in shorts and shirtsleeves even on a 50-something degree winter day. then we put our sweathirts back on for the brisk drive back to the ramp. the evinrude 135hp gives nearly 50mph in the little 16 footer lake boat.

here she is, the previous owner and his wife and kids:

Here in FL it's a year-round thing, although I do cut back during the heat of summer. We'll be moving to upstate SC, and we probably won't go as much in the winter, although the water stays open.

yep- last year in January we had a 78degree day here-spent it on the lake and at Lil' Pete's bar & grill on the outside floating dock with live music-we had a few COLD days but I have drain valves tapped into my freeze plugs that I can open& close to drain the block . plus the water never got below 54 degrees.:)

Here in Southern Ontario the lakes are frozen solid during the winter, so realistically we get about 3 months of solid summer boating in. We could probably push that to 4 or even 5 months if I was done school.

Interestingly, Southern Ontario is actually farther south than many parts of California... if only we had as much winter as you guys do!

I fish and hunt from my boat year round. My local lake, 110 miles away allows duck hunting in the fall so we make a combo trip to the lake. It does get cold but there are tee shirt and shorts days in January. Red bluff reservoir, and aimistead, near Del Rio Texas. My new bride loves fishing and does not mind to cook what I kill and bring home. So yes, 12 months a year.

heck yea, this is ARIZONA and other than when the MONSOONS blow in the big winds there is no such thing as winterizing a boat or motor...I would have to ask how anything like that is done....sorry but we may not have oceans but there is still some fun waters here to enjoy all year long. It's kinda funny when i order a part from a eastern state in Dec. or Jan. and want it ups red and then they here the address and mumble some things under there breath. LOL :D

All year. Living in Central Florida and having a trailerable cruiser is as good as it gets.
Our Cruise Club has an outing avaeraging every 2 weekd. In Oct we cruise from Daytona to St. Augusting. November we have an annual turkey day cruise. December is the Christmas Party and the New Years outings. January is a Chili tasting cruise. Then, its to Caladesi Island.
Besides that, there are places on Th St. Johns River, and the ICW to cruise to.

i will add that in addition to year round boating weather here in socal, having a small boat, [13'4" boston whaler], that are a snap to clean up, you can head on out to the harbor for a quickie cruise/fish on a whim, with little to no planning. i do it all the time. VERY convenient. the boating-to-cleaning and maintaining time is very high with a small, simple boat.

plus, with a small boat, you can have a small motor. i can head out for a couple of hours of fishing and burn less than a gallon with my yamaha 40.
[it'll also push the little whaler at about 40mph with just two of us aboard].

the season is over here too....bimini season that is. :p)

we might end up high and dry though if lake travis drops too low for the boat ramps to reach again. the smaller lake will be drained to kill hydrilla from Jan- mid Feb.
